HERE ARE THE 4 DAY MARRAKECH DESERT TOUR HIGHLIGHTS:
Marrakech – Ouarzazate – Zagora Desert
Our Marrakech desert tour 4 days to Zagora And Merzouga will begin with an early pick-up from your accommodation in Marrakech, at around 7 a.m. The journey will take you over the High Atlas Mountains, where we will cross the highest pass in Morocco, Tizi N’Tichka (2260 m in altitude). An important stop in your trip will be for visiting the UNESCO World Heritage site Ksar Ait Ben Haddou, which is the location of numerous Hollywood successful movies (Gladiator, Prince of Persia, Game of Thrones, Cleopatra, etc.). Afterward, we will be heading to Ouarzazate, known as “The Gate of the Sahara” and due to the presence of a big movie-making set here, it is also known as the Moroccan version of Hollywood. You will have lunch near a famous Kasbah among the tourists, Taourirt. We continue our trip towards Draa Valley, crossing the Anti-Atlas Mountains and the N’Tnifift pass (1710 m), the former route of caravans for Sahara traders, and Ait Saoun village, to the oasis of Agdz, where you will have the chance to admire the Kasbah Tamnougalt. The Draa Valley is fortified by Kasbahs and oases covered by thousands of palm trees. This valley hosts the largest palm tree plantation in Morocco (Mezquita palmary, Fezouata, etc.). Upon arrival at Zagora, in the afternoon, we will meet the caravans, and a camel trekking adventure shall begin across the dunes while admiring the beauty of the sunset. You will enjoy traditional Moroccan food under the Sahara night sky while being entertained by Berber people and spend the night in Nomadic tents.
Zagora - Tazarine - Merzouga Desert
The second day will begin with an early wakeup so you can admire an amazing sunrise in the desert. After a typical Moroccan breakfast in the bivouac of Zagora Desert, you will ride the camels back to the vehicle. From here, you will start your departure towards the dunes of Erg Chebbi (Merzouga Desert). You will be passing through the Anti-Atlas Mountains towards the town of Alnif, a hot spot for fossil hunters around the world, where we will stop for lunch (own expense). We will also be passing through the city of Rissani, the home to the Alawite dynasty as they took power, as well as Moulay er Rachid. It is a cultural destination in Morocco boasting beautiful examples of early Moroccan architectural styles and noteworthy palaces and temples, such as Ksar Oulad Abdelhalim and Ksar Aber. Afterward, we continue our road towards the captivating dunes of Erg Chebbi, which are a part of the Merzouga desert. After we arrive at the hotel in Merzouga, you will prepare for an approximately 90 minutes camel trek across the sand dunes, just in time to see how the color of the dunes tends towards a mystical aspect under the beauty of the sunset over the Sahara. After arriving at the camp, where you will spend the night in nomadic tents, you will enjoy delicious traditional Moroccan food, such as tajin, next to a fire camp, while being entertained by local Berbers playing their drums. You can also climb the dunes while admiring one of the most beautiful night skies, under the magical light of the stars.
Merzouga - Todra Gorges - Dades Valley
After an early wake up so you can watch the sunrise while riding the camels, you will have breakfast at the hotel and leave for Erfoud, a destination for filmmakers due to the beauty of the surrounding Sahara Desert and the town's oasis areas. What is more, this area of Morocco has also been identified as being very similar in appearance and possibly geology to certain areas on the planet Mars. While crossing the Tafilalt region, a short stop will be made in order for you to see an ancient system of irrigation, and we will continue the road to Tinejdad. You will enjoy lunch at one of the restaurants located in the Todgha Gorges and a relaxing walk. Later on, you will be visiting a former Jewish district in Tinghir city, before driving to Dades Valley and arriving at our destination, the Dades gorge, where we will spend our night in the hotel.
Dades Valley - Ait Ben Haddou – Marrakech
The last day of the trip will begin with a delicious breakfast. We leave for Marrakech through the Dades Valley or “The Valley of One Thousand Kasbahs”, via the Valley of the Roses and the city of Skoura with its immense palm groves. After lunch in Ouarzazate, we carry on our trip by crossing again the highest pass in Morocco, the Tizi N'Tichka pass, and numerous Berber villages. The 4 days desert trip, which we are sure you will consider an amazing experience to remember, will end at your hotel or riad in Marrakech.
